Anni Gisinger

Dear Berni and Eva,

Anni has now joined your and her dear Kurt – and my dear Marianne, in a place where there is no pain and suffering.  There is now only peace and joy. 

Anni had a long life, well lived.  She was a strong, but warm, outdoors lady who loved to hike the Pfänder and look out at the Bodensee -- as did we.  Anni was always smiling, and her happiness was contagious.  She and Kurt were an inspiring couple to Marianne and me some 60+ years ago when we were nineteen and they were Marianne’s “parents” (whom I adopted also) for our “junior year abroad program”.   As you know, I met my wife-to-be and your parents at basically the same time.  What we learned from them led to our happy marriage of 58 years.  We admired them and you so much that we stayed in touch across the miles, and had the occasional visit ever since.

I can see in my mind’s eye the three of them, hand-in-hand, smiling down at us from above.
